Soaring over the Chateaus HIKE

Directions: North off Hwy 62 on Rawson Road. Go 1 mile to dead end at Cheyenne Trail. Turn right on Cheyenne and go 100 yards to private parking on left side of road. The trail heads directly up the hill from the parking area. Trail is well marked until the last 200 feet. The last 200 feet winds up the west side of the summit; find your way in typical desert landscaping. Most of the trail you are guest on the private property of the Chateaus, Panorma Pass. The last 1/3 of the trail goes into the Sand to Snow National Monument. You will see a marker that indicates this. The 360 view at the top is a visual symphony that may stay in your memories for months. The San Jacinto mountain peak is to the south, San Gorgonio Mountains, the highest mountain in Southern California to the west, the mountains sandwich the air coming from the west creating the windmill phenomenon. The West side of Joshua Tree are the mountains to the south-east.
